The Part-Time Mosquito Spray Technician plays an important role in the District’s mosquito control program by conducting nighttime adult mosquito control operations through the application of adulticide treatments. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working independently, driving, and contributing to public health and environmental quality.
This is a part-time, as-needed position. The work schedule will consist of fewer than 30 hours per week. Hours are not guaranteed and will be scheduled based on operational needs, workload, and weather conditions. Typical shifts are scheduled during evening hours, beginning just before sunset and lasting approximately three hours to complete assigned spray routes.
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Operations Manager and is evaluated through field observations and computer-based tracking systems.
Please note that this position is not eligible for company-paid benefits, paid leave, or District administrative leave.
Key Responsibilities
· Safely operate District motorized vehicles during day or nighttime operations.
· Apply adulticide products in designated treatment areas according to established procedures.
· Record and maintain accurate daily operational and product usage data as required by state and district regulations.
· Read, understand, and apply pesticides in accordance with product labels, regulations, and safety requirements.
· Operate, inspect, and maintain spray equipment; identify defects and report maintenance needs promptly.
· Participate in mosquito adulticiding operations during early morning or nighttime hours, as required.
· Attend required safety and technical training sessions.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and service ready vehicle and equipment.
· Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
· Perform additional related duties as assigned.

· Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
· Properly handle and store hazardous materials; comply with safety and spill prevention protocols.
· Operate electronic equipment, including tablets and mapping software.
· Work independently and collaboratively in varied environmental conditions
· Safely interact with wildlife, hazardous plants, and potential disease vectors.
· Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills when interacting with the public and team members.
· Maintain composure and professionalism in stressful or confrontational situations.
Qualifications
· High School Diploma or GED required.
· Valid Florida Driver’s License with a clean driving record
· 3-year history required at time of hire.
· Previous mosquito control or related experience is a plus but not required.
Work Environment
This position involves daily outdoor work in a variety of environmental conditions, including:
· High heat, humidity, and rainfall
· Exposure to mosquitoes, insects, wildlife, and pesticides
· Proximity to construction zones and roadway traffic
Employees are required to wear appropriate safety gear and adhere to all safety protocols.
