This position is responsible for working with Veterans affairs and ensuring South University remains in compliance with rules and regulations. Incumbent must assure that the Company philosophy: quality services to clients; development, growth, involvement, and recognition of employees; sound economic principles; and environment which is conducive to innovation, positive thinking and expansion is considered in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of this position.
KEY JOB ELEMENTS:
1. Advise students on applying for VA benefits (e.g., Post – 9/11. MGIB, DEA, VR&E) and related aid such as Federal Tuition Assistance.
2. Support recruitment and retention initiatives for military connected students
3. Collaborate with admissions, registrar financial aid, and academic advisors to ensure accurate reporting
4. Lead or support student veteran events, military orientation events and/or welcome sessions for new military connected students
5. Serve as a liaison with VR&E counselors and state VA education partners
6. Assist with analyzing military trends
7. Verifies student educational benefits and certifies accurately and timely on Enrollment Manager
8. Monitor students course load and grades to ensure compliance with VA regulations; reports status changes that affect student eligibility for VA benefits; review bi-weekly Post Cert report, and report changes within the compliance guidelines set forth by the VA. Assist other campuses as needed
9. Keep up to date on current VA rules and benefits: Attend all required training to include Quarterly VA virtual office hours and required annual raining. Read and maintain VA bulletins
10. Maintain copies of appropriate application forms. When requested, help veterans and dependents fill out and send in applications
11. Apprise supervisors of any internal problems that may affect service to VA students.
12. Assist with review and processing of Debt letters received from the VA
13. audits student files at initial enrollment, throughout their attendance and at graduation to ensure 100% compliance
14. Complete initial School Certifying Official training through the VA and maintain minimum number of training hours each year
15. Other Duties as Assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Prior Military experience required with a minimum of 3 years of service (honorable discharge required)
- Associate degree required
- Prior experience as a VA School Certifying Official preferred
- Previous experience working with people from a variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds
- Experience in MS Office and database usage
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong interpersonal skills with student and staff populations.
- Strong critical thinking skills, ability to work independently and make decisions based on general guidelines.
- Strong organization, prioritization, and self-motivation skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet frequently occurring deadlines
