We are building a high-performance finance team to support our next phase of growth.
Position Summary
The Financial Controller is the company's chief accounting officer, responsible for the accuracy and integrity of financial records across all entities, timely and compliant financial reporting, strong internal controls, and continuous improvement of accounting operations within NetSuite. The Controller works in close partnership with the CFO, providing the reliable financial foundation from which strategic decisions are made.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations & Close
- Own the monthly and annual close process across all entities, including GL maintenance, journal entries, account reconciliations, intercompany eliminations, and consolidation in NetSuite
- Maintain and enforce a consistent close calendar with documented checklists and clear SLAs
- Oversee AP, AR, cash disbursements, fixed assets, payroll accounting, and revenue recognition
Financial Reporting
- Produce accurate and timely GAAP financial statements: P&L by entity and service line, balance sheet, cash flow statement, and supporting schedules
- Prepare management reporting packages with variance analysis for CFO and leadership
- Coordinate all tax preparation activities with external CPA firm
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Work with CFO to design, implement, and maintain accounting policies and internal controls; enforce segregation of duties
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, healthcare finance regulations, and relevant tax requirements
- Identify and remediate control gaps proactively
NetSuite Ownership
- Serve as the primary finance owner of NetSuite: chart of accounts, custom segments, workflows and approvals, roles and permissions, and saved searches/reports
- Manage and improve integrations (e.g., payroll, expense management, RCM/billing feeds)
- Coordinate with Business Analyst to build and maintain PowerBI dashboards and financial reports for CFO, CEO, and practice leadership
- Continuously optimize the close process and reduce manual work through automation within NetSuite
Budgeting & Planning Support
- Partner with the CFO on annual budgeting and rolling forecasts; provide actuals-to-budget reporting with variance explanations
- Assist in cash flow management: track disbursement timing, vendor terms, and short-term cash position; flag risks to CFO early
Team Leadership
- Supervise and develop the accounting team
- Set clear expectations, quality standards, and professional development plans for direct reports
AI and process innovation
- Partner with the CFO to identify, evaluate, and implement practical AI-driven solutions across Finance, including automation of transactional processes, enhancement of reporting and analytics, and improvement of forecasting and decision-support workflows.
- Continuously assess emerging AI tools and capabilities, develop business cases for adoption, and lead Finance's role in pilot projects, change management, and governance to ensure secure and compliant use of AI within the department.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA strongly preferred
- 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role
- Multi-entity experience required; healthcare services or healthcare technology strongly preferred
- Deep, hands-on NetSuite proficiency including chart of accounts design, custom segments, saved searches, and workflow automation. Experience with a NetSuite implementation or major optimization is a strong plus
- Solid knowledge of GAAP and familiarity with healthcare revenue cycle flows
- Proven ability to build and improve accounting processes, manage a small team, and communicate clearly with non-finance stakeholders
- Strong Excel skills. Experience with expense management platforms (e.g., Emburse or similar) a plus
Success Metrics (First 12 Months)
- Monthly close consistently completed within 10 business days of month-end
- Zero material post-close adjusting entries
- NetSuite financial reports adopted and actively used by operational leadership
- Documented accounting policies and internal controls in place across all entities
- Accounting team operating with clear roles, SLAs, and professional development plans
