What are the responsibilities and job description for the Receiving Inventory Specialist position at South Texas Lighthouse for the Blind?
Position Summary
Responsible for unloading, receiving and in-checking raw material from suppliers and enter receiving data into ERP system. Deliver raw materials to production areas as requested. Conduct inventory counts on materials as directed.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Unload trucks, check for visible damage. count material, signs paper work and stage material to designated area
- Ensures materials are delivered in a timely manner to each production area per production schedule for smooth production flow
- Performs system transactions related to all inventory movement to include, receiving, transfers, and assemblies
- Conducts random inventory counts as directed to maintain inventory accuracy
- Reviews and maintains Kanban systems through plant
- Details results that show status of raw materials, work in process and finished goods
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Have excellent customer service skills
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Be a self-starter with excellent organizing, planning, analyzing, and coordinating skills
- Basic math skills and ability to perform basic math calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
- Basic computer skills
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
- Must have experience operating a forklift, pallet jack, hand truck,banding and wrapping equipment and bar code scanners
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis
- Must be able to lift, push and move materials weighing up to 150 pounds with assistance of warehouse equipment; must be able to climb ladders
- High School Diploma and three (3) years of related work experience; or, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved
- Current state driver’s license and proof of insurability
