McAllen - Residential Support Assistant

South Texas Community Living is hiring a part time Residential Support Assistant assisting individuals with intellectual disabilities in group home settings in the McAllen area. 

Our program provides a rewarding job experience for anyone interested in promoting the independence of people with disabilities. The Residential Support Assistant will work under the supervision of the Direct Care Supervisor with input from the Registered Nurse, and in a strong team atmosphere. The ideal candidate would have Supervisory, Caregiving, Direct Support and/ or Direct Care, C.N.A. or Home Health experience. To support our population of individuals one must be fun, clean, mature, dependable, organized, respectful, and patient in challenging situations. 

Shift: Monday - Friday     Hours: 4PM to 8PM 

Residential Support Assistant Duties include:

• Coordinating schedule of group home direct support staff in group homes throughout the 7-day week within payroll software.
• Coordinating and assisting caregiver staff with purchasing, including but not limited to groceries, over-the-counter medications, fuel for vehicles, and household supplies and decorations.
• Rounds at group homes to monitor efforts of Direct Support Staff to ensure overall home cleanliness, quality interactions between caregiver staff and individuals, following of diets and other special instructions for client care, following of set schedules for daily routines and recreational activities, following of detailed instructions for medication pass and related procedures, ensuring of safety precautions associated with activities of daily living for high risk individuals, providing supportive and respectful interaction with assigned individuals, following of instructions for all related documentation (e.g., time sheets, training records-goals and objectives, medication administration records, daily service activity logs, incident and accident reports, other medical data, and other documentation, as needed.
• Ongoing follow-up visits to determine and ensure Direct Support Staff can demonstrate all above-mentioned skills thoroughly and effectively.
• Coordinating with Direct Care Supervisor / Case Managers and Nurses to ensure proper filing of individual documentation in internal electronic record. 
• Plan and monitor recreational activities, and provide support to Direct Support Staff, as needed (e.g., attend outings, assist with activity transportation, etc.).
• Report all issues and concerns to the Director of Direct Support Services and/or Nurse (as appropriate) and implement all related instructions to resolve problems.

Qualifications:

• Valid and current Texas Driver's License
• Clear Background Check
• Clear DMV Check
• High School Diploma or Equivalent Proof of Education
• No confirmation of Abuse/Neglect/Exploitation of an elderly or disabled person
• No history of Medicaid fraud.
• Experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (group home experience preferred)
• Strong communication and team-participation skills; friendly, positive attitude.
• General computer skills (not necessarily expert); be able to use Word, Excel, Outlook, and general internet navigation.
