Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and evaluating oral health status.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term dental health.
- Take dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring accuracy while adhering to infection prevention protocols.
- Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) using Eaglesoft, documenting all patient interactions thoroughly.
- Follow strict infection control procedures, including aseptic technique and sterilization of dental equipment, in compliance with HIPAA and healthcare regulations.
- Monitor patient comfort throughout treatments, providing compassionate care.
- Support patient care by reviewing medical records, updating documentation, and ensuring HIPAA compliance at all times.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless clinic operations, including maintaining dental equipment and assisting with administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current credentials.
- Proven experience in dental office settings, preferably with pediatric dentistry or general dentistry practices.
- Proficiency in Eaglesoft for electronic health records management.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to oral health.
- Demonstrated expertise in infection prevention management, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection control standards.
- Excellent communication skills for client education and team collaboration; compassionate approach especially when working with pediatric patients.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations; detail-oriented with strong documentation review skills.
- Knowledge of medical coding related to dental procedures is a plus but not required.
