POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
The Branch Program Director is responsible for the planning, preparation, and operation of all youth development programs in the assigned Branch. The Branch Program Director is responsible for successful execution of assigned youth programs and youth-serving amenities at assigned Branch. Core functions include program promotion and operations; staffing; budget development, and program administration. Director is expected to create and maintain an atmosphere that is safe, character-centered, and kid-focused that promotes the YMCA’s mission, values, and goals. Director is a key member of the Association and Branch management team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Program Development and Management
-
Develop, manage, and coordinate youth programs and amenities, such as KidZone!, Climbing Wall, Youth Experience Programming, Youth Sports, Kid’s Night Out and related.

Ensure programs and activities meet YMCA objectives to develop in spirit, mind, and body, and incorporate the four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility into all department programming.

Ensure all programming meets objectives and is developed in conjunction with South Sound YMCA Strategic Plans and program standards.

Ensure the health and safety of all participants.

Manage ongoing participant feedback through Listen360 platform
-
Address quality and customer service issues that arise in a swift and successful manner.

Make necessary program purchases ensuring compliance with department budget.

Keep accurate dashboards of key indicators for all program areas.

Explore new program opportunities annually with the appropriate staff and committees.

Develop promotional materials in concert with the Branch Administrative Assistant for Youth Development.

Staff Development and Management
-
Effectively coach, mentor and supervise Department Coordinator and Full-time Lead Staff.

Ensure Department part-time staff are being effectively coached, mentored and supervised by their leaders.

Provide ongoing recognition of staff and volunteers.

Hold regularly scheduled meetings with staff and volunteers.
-
Conduct staff and volunteer evaluations each year.

Responsible for ensuring all HR-related policies and procedures are followed

Regularly inspect classes and programs to ensure quality program implementation

Fiscal Management
-
Responsible for the assigned Youth Development Department budgets including development, ongoing monitoring, and active management towards annual balancing.

Financial Development

Provide leadership for and participate in the Annual Campaign

Provide information, as needed, for use in soliciting grants or other contributed funds.

Participate in with other special events as requested

Attend all scheduled staff meetings and training as requested by supervisor.

Participate in Association and Branch projects and committees as requested.

Attend conference and training to facilitate professional growth as requested by supervisor.

Qualifications:
This position requires an enthusiastic, creative, friendly and positive person. To serve in this position, the incumbent must be at least 21 years of age with appropriate experience to plan, prepare, operate, and supervise youth programs. A bachelor’s degree in a related field and bilingual in Spanish/English is preferred. The incumbent must possess the management, technical and organizational skills necessary to operate successful youth programs and facilities. Supervision, programming and fiscal management skills are required. Must possess ability to detect and respond to critical incidents and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
Upon hire:

Current Child & Infant and Adult CPR, AED and First Aid must be obtained within 30-days of hire and be current throughout length of employment.

South Sound YMCA’s - New Employee Orientation - must be obtained within 45-days of hire.

This position has major impact on the overall success of the South Sound YMCA, its reputation and financial strength. Effectiveness should be measured in size and quality of programs and service and the effectiveness of support provided to staff and volunteers.
