Title: Full-Time Associate Oral Medicine Specialist

Company Description

South Sound Oral Medicine is a premier, privately owned specialty clinic located in Federal Way, Washington, dedicated to the non-surgical management of complex orofacial disorders. We bridge the gap between dentistry and medicine, focusing heavily on orofacial pain, temporomandibular disorders (TMD), oral mucosal diseases, salivary gland dysfunction, and dental sleep medicine (OSA appliance therapy). We pride ourselves on a highly collaborative, patient-centered environment, a robust referral network across the South Puget Sound region, and a commitment to clinical excellence and ongoing mentorship.

Role Description

We are seeking a dedicated Associate Oral Medicine Specialist to join our growing practice for a long-term commitment (minimum one year). This is a full-time, W-2 role featuring a highly desirable Monday–Thursday clinical schedule, providing a 3.5-day weekend every single week to ensure an unparalleled work-life balance.

The associate will be responsible for diagnosing and managing complex oral and maxillofacial conditions, developing comprehensive treatment plans, and collaborating closely with our network of referring primary care physicians, ENT specialists, rheumatologists, and general dentists. You will operate within a modern, medically-focused administrative framework utilizing AthenaOne (EHR). Direct mentorship and collaborative case reviews are a core part of our clinical environment.

Compensation & Perks (The South Sound Advantage)

We believe in rewarding clinical excellence with absolute transparency, high earning potential, and the freedom to practice without restrictive corporate handcuffs.

  • The Medical Billing Advantage: Unlike traditional self-pay or dental-insurance-driven clinics that fluctuate with the economy, our robust medical insurance billing model provides a highly stable, recession-resistant patient volume. This ensures a reliable, consistent income stream for our associates regardless of economic conditions.
  • Lucrative Production Model: Earn a highly competitive 35% commission on your net collections (minus a 50% split on lab/material fees).
  • Guaranteed Safety Net: To ensure a completely stress-free transition, we provide a guaranteed Minimum Draw of $750 per full clinical day during your first 90 days.
  • Unbeatable Schedule: Monday through Wednesday (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM with a dedicated 1-hour lunch break) and Thursdays (8:00 AM – 2:00 PM).
  • True Professional Freedom: Absolutely NO geographic non-compete clause. We encourage your professional growth and will never restrict where you can practice in the future.
  • Comprehensive Protection: Malpractice insurance premiums are fully paid by the practice (with highly equitable shared-risk "Tail" coverage terms).
  • Retirement & Wellness: Access to a SIMPLE IRA plan with practice matching (after 1 year), plus accrued Washington State Paid Sick Leave.
  • Elite Admin Support: Dedicated in-house and virtual administrative support teams handling your prior authorizations and triage, allowing you to focus strictly on patient care.

Qualifications

  • Education: DDS, DMD, or equivalent degree, followed by a certificate from a CODA-accredited Oral Medicine residency program.
  • Licensure: Active licensure to practice dentistry in the State of Washington (or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to the employment start date).
  • Board Status: Board Certification or active Board Eligibility by the American Board of Oral Medicine (ABOM).
  • Clinical Skills: Strong diagnostic proficiency in managing TMD, orofacial pain, complex mucosal lesions, and obstructive sleep apnea.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on compassionate patient education and clear, professional correspondence with referring providers.
