Data Architect – Data Infrastructure and Analytics
We are seeking a strategic and technical Data Architect to lead the design and implementation of SSHCO’s internal data infrastructure. As SSHCO enhances its internal data intelligence capabilities, you will be the primary architect of a hybrid data environment. Reporting to the Director of Health Information Exchange (HIE), you will provide the technical foundation for a self-sustaining, data-driven healthcare ecosystem focused on the South Side community.

- Design and implement a modern Data Lakehouse architecture leveraging onsite SQL servers and Azure cloud to support advanced predictive modeling.
- Lead the development of a proprietary MPI to accurately resolve member identities across disparate clinical, claims, and social datasets.
- Lead the design and maintenance of automated pipelines (Azure Data Factory/Databricks) to normalize data from partner EHRs and external health systems.
- Partner with IT Services to verify that server health, hardware backups, and security patching meet data integrity standards.
- Collaborate with the IT team to optimize the hybrid data environment, ensuring seamless data flow and integrity between the onsite physical server and Azure cloud services.
- Develop and maintain data models, data dictionaries, and metadata repositories to ensure consistency and eliminate reporting errors.
- In coordination with IT and third-party regulators, enforce data privacy and security policies to ensure all architecture meets SIEM and HIPAA audit requirements.
- Translate clinical and business requirements from partner sites and SSHCO leadership into scalable technical data solutions.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data system performance to ensure high reliability for the Data Science and Analytics teams.
- Provide technical leadership to the Data Infrastructure & Analytics team to support the organization's evolving predictive needs.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in data engineering or architecture, with a focus on designing scalable data solutions in healthcare or nonprofit environments.
- Experience with Health Information Exchanges (HIE) and clinical data ingestion from EHR systems (Epic experience is highly desirable).
- Advanced proficiency in SQL, Azure, and Databricks.
- Hands-on experience with data modeling for Lakehouse architecture and managing Master Data Management (MDM) / Identity Resolution processes.
- Strong understanding of healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR, ICD-10) and strict adherence to HIPAA regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with hybrid environment concepts, including the integration of physical onsite servers with cloud synchronization (e.g., Azure Arc).
- Familiarity with population health analytics, SDoH datasets, and public health reporting.
- Proven project management experience and the ability to lead cross-functional technical teams.
- Demonstrated commitment to data privacy, ethical data use, and the SSHCO mission of improving community health equity.
