What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kennel Assistant position at South Shores Animal Hospital?
South Shores Animal Hospital is seeking a part-time Kennel Assistant to join our team! Our Kennel team is dedicated to the care and comfort of our patients while providing critical support to the veterinary team.
In this role, you will focus on patient husbandry and care as well as general housekeeping duties throughout the hospital. You will provide meals and walks to boarding patients and monitor for any medical or behavioral concerns while providing detailed documentation about your observations. You will ensure kennels, common spaces and treatment areas are sanitized and well stocked with supplies. In addition, you may assist our veterinary team with light technician tasks such as safely handling patients, and providing support during exams or treatments.
This position is ideal for those who are self-driven, detail-oriented, enjoy cleaning and organization, and are committed to contributing to a team-focused environment.
Schedule:
This is a flexible part-time position with availibility especially needed on Saturdays & Sundays from 7:00am5:00pm.
Additional hours are available for team members who are interested in cross-training in exam room support, including assisting with patient intake, gathering history, and supporting the medical team during appointments.

Minimum qualifications and skill set:
- Previous kennel or animal handling experience is preferred
- Commitment to a career in veterinary medicine with ongoing training
