Description
The Instructor-Red Cross will provide instruction in various classes in the Red Cross Curriculum, such as CPR, First Aid and Lifeguarding. The candidate will be instrumental in providing high-level training experience for both internal employees and paying participants.

PROGRAM MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT
- Always supervise your class
- Conduct classes in a Consistent, Fair and Firm manner.
- Instructors will have full control and vision of their class at all times.
- Prepare course materials and equipment before each course, making sure to have an appropriate supply of all instructional materials, make copies if necessary.
- Motivate Students to learn and participate.
- Maintain a professional attitude and a positive learning environment for the students including maintaining good class control.
- Evaluate students’ physical and written performance and provide constructive feedback when necessary.
- Work with, and accommodate, students with physical and mental disabilities and/or students with language/reading barriers.
- Arrange for students who are not passing to make up skills or exams in a timely manner, within Red Cross recommendations.
- Turn in course attendance and student feedback, properly filled, out to HR for all CPR and First Aid classes after each class.
- Conduct course in accordance with all Red Cross and SS YMCA guidelines, policies, procedures and/or curricula.
- Respond to situations, incidents, accidents and emergencies appropriately, calmly and professionally.
- Protect the organization and patrons from harm or suit.
- Work with fellow staff members and treat them with respect.
- Attend all staff meetings and complete skill trainings.
- Process certifications within 10 business days of the class completion, with the online SABA system.
- Successfully complete on-going Instructor Training programs and updates within Red Cross timelines.
- Keep certification current with the American Red Cross.
- Greet every member and/or participant with a smile and a friendly “Hello”.
- Arrive prepared for your class fifteen minutes before it starts. Take initiative to perform the job to the best of your ability.
- Record and report any faulty equipment and/or lapse in maintenance to the supervisor on duty or Aquatic Directors.
- Be able to work through the various mediums of classroom instruction including but not limited to providing lectures, using power point materials, videos, classroom activities and such.
- Have a thorough understanding of how to use various pieces of technology including but not limited to a computer and projector.
- Return equipment after each class to the appropriate storage areas and communicate with supervisors for any inadequacies and provide feedback for improvement.
- Clean and disinfect mannequins based on usage and ARC policies.

- Current Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification
- Current Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor or CPR/First Aid Instructor certification
