Position: Skills Trainer
Part-time: 5-15 hours a week

Description of Individual Community Connector role:
Momentum at South Shore Support Services Inc. is looking to hire a thoughtful, self-motivated and well-organized person for the role of Skills Trainer. Candidates would be working with children aged 8years old- 22 years old diagnosed with a Developmental Disability at the client’s home and within the community. The role of Skills Trainer is to help support the identified goal(s) of clients and their families. Individuals serviced via ST staff are supported by The Department of Developmental Services.
Hours:
We are looking for staff who are available for evening shifts Monday- Friday as well as weekend day shifts.
There are also potential part-time hours available during the week, and weekends not identified above. Applicants' availability and fit can be determined within the phone screening and interview process. Applicants are encouraged to ask any applicable questions regarding the ST role or overall service model.
Qualities for the role:
Strong candidates for the role would ideally have a working background or experience working with clients diagnosed with developmental disabilities, and who can demonstrate strong communication skills working alongside the client, family and stakeholders involved.
Individuals with a background as a BCBA, RBT, CNA or direct service worker are strongly considered, but all others are welcome to apply. Candidates must demonstrate patience, possess a creative outlook for organizing activities related to client-focused goals, and have a desire to foster trusted relationships. All applicants are required to have an active driver’s license, as part of the role is helping with client transportation in one’s personal vehicle.
Applicants must be comfortable with behaviors including but not limited to elopement and SIB. Applicants should also be comfortable with various ADL needs including toileting.
There are about five individuals that are supported in this program in need of staffing and opportunities to work with one to multiple individuals depending on availability and scheduling.
