What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Age Group Leader position at South Shore Stars?
As a member of the Center team, help develop and maintain a safe, nurturing, creative, fun, developmentally appropriate program. This is a forty-four-week school year position.

South Shore Stars provides comprehensive early education and youth development programs that enhance the optimal growth of children from economically and culturally diverse families, using a family support approach in collaboration with schools and other service providers.

Essential Responsibilities
- Work with the Center Director/Assistant Director to develop and implement program goals and objectives.
- Develop strong, positive relationships with each child.
- Work with the Center Director/Assistant Director to develop age-appropriate activities and implement both individual and group activities, special projects and field trips.
- Work with the Center Director/Assistant Director to establish and maintain behavioral limits and classroom order.
- With guidance from the Center Director, communicate with parents about children’s daily needs, interests, progress and concerns, referring parent concerns to the Center Director/Assistant Director.
- Assist with keeping the center clean and organized.
- Drive Center van to transport children, fulfilling responsibilities as outlined in the Stars Van Driver Responsibilities and Procedures if able to obtain 7D license.
- Assist with menu planning and food preparation and purchase.
- Assist with record keeping.
- Attending and participating in staff and team meetings and appropriate trainings.
- Develop and follow through with annual evaluation goals and training plan.
- All other assigned tasks
- Meet DEEC qualifications for School Age Group Leader.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with children in a formal setting.
- Willingness and ability to obtain MA 7D Driving License.
- Willing to work a flexible schedule including full days during school vacations.
- Ability to set clear expectations and limits for children.
- High energy, warm and nurturing personality.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- All South Shore Stars employees should be able to lift at least 40 lbs. and work in a non-sedentary environment.
