South Shore Insurance Underwriters (SSIU) is looking for a detail-oriented and dependable Accountant to join our growing Accounting team. This is a newly created position that will provide additional support across our accounts receivable and accounts payable functions while also contributing to month-end close and other accounting activities.

What You’ll Do
- Receive, record, and accurately apply incoming payments
- Maintain accurate accounts receivable records and assist with researching and resolving outstanding or unapplied balances
- Process vendor invoices and payments and maintain accurate accounts payable records
- Assist with account reconciliations and research discrepancies as needed
- Support month-end closing activities, including preparation of schedules, reconciliations, and other supporting documentation
- Assist with maintaining accurate financial records and appropriate supporting documentation
- Work with other members of the Accounting team to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies
- Collaborate with departments across the organization to ensure financial transactions are processed accurately and timely
- Provide cross-functional support within the Accounting department as business needs and priorities change
- Assist with special projects and process improvements as opportunities arise
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (strongly preferred)
- Experience in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Open to recent graduates
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Ability to adapt as priorities and workloads change
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general accounting systems
- Insurance or MGA experience is a plus but not required
