Job Title: Apprentice, Electrician
Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

Primary Purpose:
Assist a licensed electrician in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment throughout the school district. This position provides on-the-job training and related instruction required to develop the skills necessary to become a licensed electrician in the State of Texas while ensuring a safe and functional learning environment.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Texas Driver’s License with good driving record
- Knowledge of operation of electric, electronic pneumatic controls
- Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee
- Enrollment in a state-approved electrical apprenticeship program preferred or willingness to enroll.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of basic electrical systems, including wiring, circuits, panels, lighting, and low-voltage systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to make accurate and cost-effective decisions independently of close supervision
- Ability to provide supervisory guidance
Experience:
2 years of experience in electrical field
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, including wiring, fixtures, panels, and equipment
- Pull wire, install conduit, and prepare materials for electrical projects
- Assist in troubleshooting electrical issues in lighting, power distribution, and control systems
- Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams
- Assist with testing, inspecting, and documenting electrical work
- Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and use of personal protective equipment
- Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal codes and district policies
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Assist other maintenance staff as needed
- Respond to work orders and emergency maintenance calls
- Perform other duties as assigned
