Primary Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned
Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
At least one year student teaching or approved internship
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- 1. Provide instruction and leadership to the cheerleading squad in acrobatics, dance, and tumbling.
- 2. Provide for cheerleading participation at extracurricular events, including football games, pep rallies, parades, fundraisers, UIL, and other events.
- 3. Establish performance requirements, enforce academic requirements, and verify each student’s eligibility to participate.
- 4. Oversee selection of cheerleaders; ensure process is transparent, fair, and equitable.
- 5. Be a positive role model for students; support mission of school district.
- 6. Coordinate rehearsals, competitions, routines, and performances.
- 7. Develop and administer the budget based on documented programs needs and ensure that operations are cost effective, and funds are managed wisely.
- 8. Take all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, material, and facilities.
- 9. Keep informed of and ensure compliance with all school district rules, polices, and procedures.
- 10. Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- 11. Accompany and supervise students during meetings, competitions, performances, service projects, and on out-of-town trips.
- 12. Arrange for transportation, lodging, and meals for out-of-town events.
- 13. Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
- 14. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Environment: Work inside, outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); regular exposure to noise; regular districtwide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours
