Field Service Technician Helper — South Plains Valley
Overview
Support Field Service Technicians serving growers in the greater Lubbock area. Assist with installation, maintenance, and basic repairs for pivot irrigation machines, subsurface drip systems, submersible well controls, telemetry, and related equipment. Provide dependable, safety-focused assistance to help minimize downtime and deliver excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Service Support & Maintenance
- Respond to assigned service calls promptly and follow technician instructions.
- Assist with basic troubleshooting, inspections, and routine maintenance on pivots, drip systems, wells, and telemetry.
- Help perform preventative maintenance tasks and report observed issues to the lead technician or service manager.
- Tools, Parts & Vehicle Support
- Help keep the company vehicle clean, organized, and stocked with parts and supplies.
- Operate and care for tools provided; provide general hand tools as requested by the technician.
- Retrieve, carry, and prepare parts and materials needed for jobs.
- Work Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Work outdoors in varying weather and field conditions.
- Lift and carry equipment and parts (up to 75 lbs); assist with climbing, bending, crawling, and working at heights as needed.
- Follow all safety procedures when working near high-voltage equipment and on the job site.
- Customer Service & On-Site Assistance
- Interact courteously with customers and represent South Plains Valley professionally.
- Assist technicians in demonstrating basic system use and simple maintenance tips to customers.
- Documentation & Inventory
- Help collect parts usage, basic notes, and job time details for the technician to enter into the service management system.
- Assist with monthly truck inventory checks and report shortages or discrepancies to the service manager.
- Team Support & Additional Tasks
- Support technicians and other departments with assigned tasks and special projects during work hours.
- Work cooperatively with the team to ensure efficient job completion and customer satisfaction.
