What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Assistant position at South Plains Food Bank?
Job Summary: The Warehouse Assistant is responsible for a wide variety of assignments in multiple areas of the warehouse. The Warehouse Assistant will rotate, as needed, to help with areas of the warehouse that are in the most need of assistance.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Areas of assistance needed in the warehouse are the Cold Room, Dry Food Box Room, Produce Room, Salvage Area, and the Dock.
· Assist on the Dock and help with food distribution.
· Bag produce and /or other available product when needed.
· Pull orders.
· Bale boxes, clean up around all areas needed.
· Assist with inventory when needed.
· Abide by all industry standards.
· Substitute driver when needed.
· Clean-up warehouse.
· Ensure civil rights training is kept up to date annually. Obtain and keep serv safe certification up to date.
- Perform all work in a safe and satisfactory manner as instructed.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
· Certifications: Serv Safe
· Experience:
- At least 2 years in warehouse experience.
- Experience with driving a box truck and/or a larger vehicle is preferred.
· Skills:
- Good interpersonal skills and comfortable engaging in conversations.
- Experience with the use of a pallet jack, forklift, and baler is preferred.
- Must be flexible as the variety of duties may switch around at a moment’s notice; must be flexible to work- under pressure.
- Must pass a Background Check and a drug screening.
- Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record to meet insurance recommendations.

· Physical Requirements:
- Able to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings when necessary.
- Ability to lift from 40—50 lbs. pounds repetitively.
