Job Summary: The Children’s Feeding Program Manager leads the operational and programmatic functions of the South Plains Food Bank kitchen, with a primary focus on the Children’s Feeding Program and internal food service initiatives (including catering). This role ensures compliance with child nutrition regulations, food safety standards, and inventory control systems. The Manager will oversee a multidisciplinary team, including production, catering staff and volunteers, and serve as the liaison between the kitchen, compliance, and program leadership. This is a program management role, not a cooking position
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensure full compliance with CACFP, SFSP, or equivalent regulatory frameworks for children’s feeding programs.
- Maintain all documentation required for meal production logs, menu compliance, temperature checks, and monthly regulatory reporting.
- Adapt menus and production to meet grant requirements, seasonal needs, and feedback from partner sites.
- Oversee internal audits and prepare for state or federal inspections.
- Lead daily operations of kitchen production and distribution for children’s meals and catered services.
- Implement and monitor food storage protocols, labeling, and lot tracking.
- Maintain detailed inventory logs and generate usage and waste reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage and coach kitchen staff.
- Create work schedules and assign roles aligned with meal timelines and food safety requirements.
- Lead training in Serve Safe, hygiene protocols, and operational procedures.
- Work closely with Children’s Feeding leadership to align food services with programmatic goals.
- Coordinate with compliance, volunteer services, procurement, and finance teams to align kitchen operations with SPFB’s mission.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Education: College degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience.
· Certifications: Serv Safe Manager Certification or the ability to obtain it within 60 days.
- HACCP training is preferred.
· Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in managing large-scale food programs, particularly child nutrition or institutional feeding.
- Experience with USDA meal program guidelines (CACFP, SFSP, NSLP highly desired.
- Proven track record in team supervision, program compliance, and/or operational leadership is a plus.
· Skills:
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance, food safety, and documentation protocols.
- Budget oversight, inventory control, and cost containment experience.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail, deadlines, and health code standards.
- Bilingual Spanish/English a plus.
· Physical Requirements:
- Full-time position, flexible schedule may include some evenings or weekends.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
