Duties
- Assist licensed physical therapists in implementing individualized treatment plans for patients across various care settings
- Conduct therapeutic exercises and manual therapy techniques, including trigger point therapy, to promote mobility and pain relief
- Operate and maintain medical equipment used in physical therapy sessions, ensuring safety and proper functionality
- Document patient progress accurately using electronic health records (EHR) management systems, adhering to clinical documentation standards
- Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals such as physicians, nurses, and occupational therapists to optimize patient care plans
- Perform clinical assessments and contribute detailed documentation on patient responses and treatment outcomes
- Support discharge planning by providing clear instructions and education to patients and caregivers for continued care at home or in skilled nursing facilities
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant from an accredited program
- Prior experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, orthopedics, and acute care environments
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and physiotherapy techniques such as manual therapy and outpatient treatment implementation
- Experience with clinical assessment documentation, medical documentation standards, and electronic health records (EHR) management
- Skilled in the operation of physical therapy equipment and familiarity with medical equipment used in rehabilitation settings
- Excellent communication skills for effective caregiver and client interaction within inpatient, outpatient, or home health contexts
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team in skilled nursing facilities or outpatient clinics
