About the Role
We’re looking for a creative, socially savvy Short-Form Video Editor to help grow our digital presence and bring our mission to life through compelling video storytelling.
This is a 6-month contract role ideal for someone early in their career who is fluent in platforms like Instagram Reels, Stories, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts—and who understands how to create and edit video content that feels authentic, warm, and engaging.
What You’ll Do
- Create 6 short-form videos per month (20–30 seconds each)
- Develop engaging, mission-aligned video content that reflects our values of equity, inclusion, and community
- Produce a mix of:
- Evergreen content (reusable storytelling pieces)
- Timely/social content (events, awareness moments, campaigns)
- Edit videos optimized for each platform (Instagram reels, Stories, and Shorts)
- Capture occasional on-site footage in South Orange & Maplewood (interviews, events, community moments)
- Collaborate with our team to brainstorm creative concepts and messaging
- Stay current on social media trends and adapt them thoughtfully to our mission
Who You Are
- Deeply familiar with short-form video trends and storytelling techniques
- Comfortable filming, editing, and producing content independently (use of a smartphone and an attached mic is fine)
- Passionate about equity, inclusion, and community-building
- Strong sense of tone and experience collaborating with teams on approval process
- Based in Northern New Jersey greater metropolitan area
Requirements
- A portfolio of short-form video content (TikTok, Reels, Shorts, etc.)
- Experience using editing tools (e.g., CapCut, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, or similar)
- Around twice a month, the ability to travel to South Orange & Maplewood, NJ, for filming
