What are the responsibilities and job description for the Prekindergarten Teaching Assistant and Bus Driver position at South Newton Elementary School?
MUST HAVE OR BE ABLE TO OBTAIN COMMERCIAL DRIVERS LICENSE SCHOOL BUS LICENSE AND REQUIRED PREK CREDENTIALLING.
General Purpose: Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Job Description and Responsibilities:
Duties and responsibilities of a teacher include, but are not limited to:
Curriculum and Instruction:
1. Helps instruct students in citizenship and other character education programs.
2. Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
3. Uses a variety of instructional strategies provided by the classroom teacher.
4. Works cooperatively with special education teachers, ESL teachers, and others to modify curricula as needed for identified students.
5. Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
6. Uses technologies in the teaching/learning process.
7. Assists students in analyzing and improving methods and habits of study.
8. Uses a wide range of tasks (paper-pencil, group projects, problem-based activities, etc.) to address the different learning styles of students.
9. Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
10. Helps create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
11. Uses acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
12. Follows Individual Education Plans, Personalized Education Plans, etc. when appropriate. 13. Provides appropriate feedback on student work.
Student Behavior and Student Safety:
1. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
2. Consistently and appropriately supervises students in all areas of the campus.
3. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
4. Review and practice any drill that may occur (fire, tornado, etc.).
Professionalism:
1. Follows the dress standard set by the school.
2. Limits the number of absences accrued.
3. Is representative of a positive role model for students that supports the mission of the school.
4. Maintains a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
5. Demonstrates behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible. 7. Keeps informed of and complies with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
