What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant - Mohs Surgery position at South Nassau Dermatology?
We are seeking an experienced Mohs medical assistant to join our very busy Mohs practice located in Long Island New York. The position would include assisting the Mohs surgeon throughout the procedure with instruments and providing hands on assistance. The position would include but not be limited to the following:
Sets up procedure room, according to prescribed standards.
Dress and provide wound care instruction for the surgery site.
Handles specimens for pathology according to prescribed standards.
Sterilization and aseptic technique:
Demonstrated expertise in safety principles, asepsis, sterile technique and universal precautions.
Knowledge of and ability to disinfect, clean and sterile surgical instruments, equipment and supplies.
Knowledge of or experience in equipment, such as ultrasonic cleaner and autoclaves. Understand of the processes to maintain the autoclave.
Assist in procedure room maintenance, including case preparation, room turnover, and instrument processing.
Other responsibilities:
Compiles and prepares surgical packs. Runs autoclave as needed.
Assist with inventory and storage of equipment and supplies. Assists with emergencies as needed.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to all ages.
