Performance Responsibilities & Essential Functions
- Maintain Classroom Environment: Establish and enforce strict classroom rules, routines, and behavioral expectations. Ensure a quiet, structured, and orderly environment conducive to study.
- Academic Support: Coordinate with classroom teachers to obtain daily assignments for suspended students. Assist students with their schoolwork and ensure all assigned tasks are completed satisfactorily.
- Behavioral Redirection: Monitor student behavior, address infractions firmly and fairly, and utilize restorative practices or reflection exercises to help students understand their behavioral choices.
- Attendance & Documentation: Maintain accurate daily attendance logs and behavioral records for all students assigned to the ISS room. Report outcomes and student cooperation to administration.
- Digital Learning Management: Supervise and guide students utilizing the district’s approved digital credit recovery software.
- Progress Monitoring: Track student pacing, completion rates, and test scores within the credit recovery program. Regularly encourage and motivate students to meet target deadlines.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Assist students with basic log-in issues, software navigation, and hardware troubleshooting, escalating larger technical issues to the IT department.
- Collaborative Intervention: Work closely with school counselors, regular education teachers, and administration to identify student needs, unlock tests/quizzes, and celebrate credit completion milestones.
General Duties & Collaboration
- Supervision: Maintain continuous, active supervision of students at all times, including during designated restroom breaks and lunch periods within the room.
- Communication: Act as a liaison between classroom teachers, counselors, administration, and occasionally parents regarding student progress and behavior in the ISS/Credit Recovery environment.
- Confidentiality: Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding student academic records, disciplinary actions, and personal information in compliance with FERPA regulations.

Qualifications & Skills
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
- Strong classroom management skills with the ability to maintain authority while remaining empathetic.
- Proficiency with technology, including learning management systems, spreadsheets, email, and student information databases.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Preferred:
- Prior experience working with high school-aged youth (grades 9–12) in an educational, behavioral health, or coaching setting.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Requires ability to see and hear attentively to monitor a classroom environment.
- This position operates entirely in an indoor high school classroom setting.
