Job Summary
The Instructor of the South Monterey County Joint Union High School District (SMCJUHSD) Adult School Nurse Assistant Training Program (NATP) will instruct students according to the curriculum designed to each specific course/program to build knowledge, skills and competency aimed at consumer/student procuring continuing education units, certifications, trainings and/or state exam prep. The instructor must be able to work with adult students from different socioeconomic and educational backgrounds. The instructor will teach the necessary hours required by each individual class.
Requirements / Qualifications
CDHP Requirements: • Active Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license with minimum of 2 years’ experience • 1 year experience as an LVN providing care and services to chronically ill or elderly patients in an acute care hospital, skilled nursing facility, intermediate care facility, home care, hospice care, or other long-term care settings. • Director of Staff Development (DSD) certificate or Attend Joshua Tree; Joshuatreeprivateschool.com to receive DSD (DSD Online Course, paid for by school $85.00) • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate from the American Heart Association (AHA) - Clinical/Hospital Requirement REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Possess an active California LVN or RN License. • Preferred Experienced/Effective Instructor for courses/programs not specified in licensing requirements. • Meet the CDPH Instructor requirements as below: 1. Active RN or LVN license in California 2. Two (2) years of nursing experience (RN, LVN) 3. One (1) of the two years must be as a licensed nurse providing care and services to chronically ill or elderly patients in an acute care hospital, skilled nursing facility, intermediate care facility, home care, hospice care, or other long-term care setting OR 4. Twenty-four (24) hours of continuing education in planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing (submit course certificate or transcript) completed within six (6) months of employment and prior to teaching a certification program. Courses must be approved by the Board of Registered Nursing or administered by an accredited educational institution.
