Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates high standards—academic and professional.
- Evaluates student work constructively and provides timely feedback.
- Provides access to students through posted conference hours, electronic communications, and other appropriate methods and responds to inquiries in a timely manner.
- Reviews, evaluates, and recommends student learning materials.
- Develops and uses a syllabus and course information materials for each course, laboratory, or clinical setting within state, college, and departmental guideline.
- Maintaining a safe, orderly, and up-to-date lab area for the application of multiple labs within the Maritime Structural Fitter Program.
- Utilizes technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports, communicate with others, and facilitate learning.
Professional Development (10%)
- Maintains high standards of competence in the discipline(s) and teaching
- Plans, develops, and uses effective teaching methods and materials which assist
educational and experiential backgrounds and learning styles, and engage the
students in learning.
- Reviews, evaluates, reflects, and revises program curricula and teaching methods
- Meets or exceeds professional standards, state-mandated guidelines, requirements of
Service (15%)
- Actively participates in college meetings and/or committees, task forces, and councils.
- Participate in college-related activities such as registration, community education,
- Participate in college activities for students/student organizations to aid in retention.
- Participate in business and community activities that foster goodwill and promote the
- Participate in activities required to maintain program and college accreditation
- Participate in setting departmental goals, in developing college budgets that support
- Promote and maintain departmental affiliation agreements and other partnerships
- Partner with Business & Industry to promote the program.
- Utilize and hold a programmatic Advisory Council meeting at least twice annually
Required Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent
Required Experience:
- A relevant certificate and 5 years of occupational experience and skill in the field to be taught
- Must be NCCER certified within the first 90 days of hire
- Must have the ability to interact with adult students.
- Must show evidence of good character, mature attitude, and stable personality
- Must possess computer skills and ability to utilize technology to enhance teaching
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work in a team environment and be a team player
- Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Etc.)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills necessary ·
- Excellent customer service skills

- Associate degree
- NCCER Craft Instructor Certification
