Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach automotive technology courses with a focus on GM ASEP curriculum.
- Deliver instruction in classroom, lab, and shop environments.
- Provide hands-on training in diagnostics, repair, and maintenance of GM vehicles.
- Maintain lab/shop safety, tools, and equipment.
- Develop lesson plans, assessments, and instructional materials aligned with ASE/NATEF standards
- Evaluate student performance through exams, practical assessments, and competencies
- Integrate safety, professionalism, and industry best practices into all instruction.
- Advise and mentor students on academic progress, technical skills, and career pathways.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and submitting final grades to the registrar's office each semester according to established deadlines.
- Maintain compliance with GM program standards and audits.
- Coordinate with GM dealerships for student internships, sponsorships, and employment opportunities.
- Stay current with evolving GM automotive technologies through ongoing training.
- Assist with program promotion, student recruitment, and outreach activities.
- Follow college policies, safety regulations, and instructional best practices.
- Serve on college, divisional, and program committees as assigned.
- Respond in a timely fashion to information requests from college, division, and program administrators.
- Develop and maintain professional relations with the industry through industry visits and advisory committee meetings.
- Collaborate with GM representatives and local dealerships to ensure program relevance
- Participate in curriculum development and program accreditation processes
- Assume other duties as requested by the supervisor and the College.
- A Baccalaureate degree in the discipline and at least two (2) years of directly related occupational experience, OR
- An associate degree in the discipline and three (3) years of occupational experience and skill in the teaching discipline with verifiable academic credentials, qualifications, or competencies appropriate for teaching the course content*, OR
- A relevant diploma or certificate in the discipline and four (4) years of occupational experience and skill in the teaching discipline with verifiable academic credentials, qualifications, or competencies appropriate for teaching the course content *, OR
- At least five (5) years of occupational experience and skill in the teaching discipline with verifiable qualifications or competencies appropriate for teaching the course content*.
- Academic coursework, work experience, licenses, certifications, credentials, competencies, or other experiences appropriate for teaching the course content must be documented and justified.
Current ASE Master Technician Certification or the ability to certify within 12 months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching experience in post-secondary education is preferred.
- Current ASE Master Technician Certification.
- Experience with GM vehicles, systems, and diagnostic tools.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Experience with, or willingness to learn, Leaming Management Systems (LMS)
