Laborer, Wastewater Treatment Facilities

South Londonderry Township is seeking a motivated, dependable, and hardworking individual to join our Wastewater Treatment Facilities Department as a Laborer. This position performs a variety of duties involving wastewater treatment operations, sanitary sewer maintenance, equipment repair, and general maintenance. Every day offers something different, making this an ideal career for someone who enjoys hands-on work.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist with the operation and maintenance of the Township's wastewater treatment facilities.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on the sanitary sewer collection system.
• Assist with sludge processing and disposal operations.
• Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on pumps, motors, valves, and other wastewater treatment equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on Township vehicles and equipment.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
• Assist with emergency response activities involving the wastewater collection and treatment system.
• Maintain accurate records as required.
• Perform general labor and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Successful candidates should possess:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work in a variety of weather conditions.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or equipment maintenance.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to learn.
• Valid Pennsylvania driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Pennsylvania Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Air Brake and Tanker endorsements.

OR

• Ability to obtain a Class B CDL with Air Brake and Tanker endorsements within one (1) year of hire.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

• Lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
• Walk, climb, kneel, crouch, bend, and work in confined spaces.
• Work outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions.
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.

Residency Requirement

Employees must reside within 15 miles of the South Londonderry Township Municipal Office within the timeframe established by Township policy.
