Transition Specialist
8 hours per day/ 10-month position

General Description
Under the supervision of licensed staff, the Transition Specialist works with at-risk youth at Cottage Grove High School. Duties include determining student eligibility, assessing students, writing case notes, creating individual student plans, and managing documentation and reporting requirements. Transition Specialists must network extensively with community and business members. Duties also include teaching in small groups or 1:1 instruction.
Essential Functions
- Extensive collaboration between staff members at Cottage Grove High School
- Business and community collaboration
- Employer recruitment, job matching, and on the job placement, training, and student internships for students
- Plan, organize and coordinate with colleges/outside agencies and programs for students interesting in continued training
- Recruit adult mentorships for students, and plan, organize and coordinate mentor/mentee activities
- Plan, organize and coordinate mentor trainings
- Coordinate employment/continued training with academic program requirements
- Assure compliance with all employment and safety laws
- Small group teaching instruction
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge/experience with employment laws and compliance
- Experience with employer recruitment, job matching, and on-the-job training
- Good communication and public presentation skills
- Ability to model appropriate image to professional staff and businesses, as well as orient and train students
- General computer hardware and software knowledge (email, Microsoft Office package)
- Previous experience in and preference for working with at-risk students
Education
AA degree preferred
Salary
Based on experience and in accordance with the 2021-2022 classified salary schedule ranging from $20.27 - $21.83.
