Job Summary: Alternating day assignment:
This teaching position is in the Career and Technical Education Department (CTE) at South Kitsap High School and requires specific CTE Certifications. Candidates must be able to verify specific industry experience aligned with OSPI’s CTE certification requirements. They will facilitate project-based learning experiences, coordinating cross-disciplinary units, managing student expeditions, and fostering strong partnerships with the community to enrich student learning through real-world, inquiry-based experiences, all while aligning with the EL philosophy and pedagogical practices. SKHS is a four-year comprehensive program that operates on a semester system. This SKHS program will work be with students for four blocks in one day on the alternating A/B Day. The mission of SKHS reflects the goals of the school improvement plan that focus on promoting intellectual growth in students through meaningful education enhanced by positive interpersonal relationships among staff, students, parents, and the community; and the development of a secure, caring, supportive, safe and trusting environment in which students become responsible, contributing members of a changing society. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Participates as a department and school team member with responsibility for the education of assigned students;
- Modifies instructional programs to meet individual student needs;
- Participates with other staff to cooperatively plan, develop, and implement a course of instruction designed to achieve required academic learning standards in the Career and Technical curriculum areas;
- Participates with other staff to cooperatively develop effective, positive techniques for improving student behavior;
- Provides positive assistance and guidance to a diverse population;
- Maintains student records, daily grades, essential learnings data, cumulative records, orders, and inventory, in a timely and orderly fashion. Reports student progress to parents regularly;
- Provides instruction to students utilizing a variety of instructional strategies aimed at meeting individual student needs, and utilizing appropriate and available resources, including technology;
- Participates in guidance discussions with students to provide appropriate programs for their educational level;
- Participates in Career and Technical Education program responsibilities;
- Participates in leadership of Career and Technical Student Organization
- Participates in team and individual instructional planning, which includes writing daily lesson plans;
- Participates in staff meetings, planning events, and department/unit meetings;
- Participates in the total building program, including assemblies, contests, and other student activities;
- Works cooperatively with total building staff in an atmosphere of cooperation and collegiality.
Minimum Requirements:
- Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate; CTE VCodes: Agriculture V010000, STEM V141000, and V200212 Careers in Education & Career Choices V600092.
- Academic background in Science instruction, Outdoor Education, project-based learning.
- Related experience in CTE curriculum design, coordination of staff and student training, staff supervision, staff development, and curriculum instruction.
- Must be flexible, exhibit a commitment to accomplishment, possess outstanding communication and conceptual skills, demonstrate appropriate and positive student relationships, possess a strong professional orientation and be willing to actively participate in a team environment;
- Demonstrated successful teaching experience at the middle and/or high school level; and a willingness and ability to utilize a variety of research-based effective instructional strategies
- Demonstrated knowledge of an integrated curriculum and a commitment to broaden knowledge in curriculum methods;
- Demonstrated knowledge of Expeditionary Learning and an ability to incorporate these principles into instructional programs;
- Demonstrated compatibility with and success with developing and working with staff, program, and district goals;
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a positive attitude with students, self, and others.
- Demonstrated ability to provide training for building administrators, teachers, and classified staff;
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and provide effective professional development;
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a positive attitude with students, self, and others.
