ROLE SUMMARY: As a Material Handler/Forklift Operator, you will be essential in ensuring efficient materials handling and warehouse operations. Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor, your core responsibilities will include operating forklifts and other heavy equipment to move products within the distribution warehouse. Experience in shipping and receiving, along with your forklift certification, will be vital in maintaining safety and productivity standards. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Material Management and Logistics
- Unload, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders, ensuring all items meet quality standards.
- Accurately document material receipts and update inventory systems.
- Organize and store materials in designated locations to maximize warehouse space and efficiency.
- Stage materials for production or installation teams according to schedules and project requirements.
II. Inventory and Quality Control
- Perform regular inventory counts and cycle checks to ensure accurate stock levels.
- Monitor inventory for potential shortages and coordinate with the purchasing team to reorder materials as needed.
- Inspect materials for defects or damage and report issues promptly to the appropriate team.
III. Equipment Operation and Maintenance
- Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment to transport materials within the facility.
- Perform routine checks on equipment to ensure functionality and safety compliance.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace to promote operational efficiency and safety.
IV. Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with production, installation, and shipping teams to meet deadlines and fulfill customer orders.
- Communicate material shortages or logistical challenges to supervisors in a timely manner.
- Support cross-functional projects, such as facility organization or process improvement initiatives.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- Ability to work overtime/on the weekends on an as needed basis based on project demands
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately track and manage inventory
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with various departments
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks for extended periods
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1–3 years of experience in a material handling, warehouse, or logistics role
- Forklift experience; training for cert will be provided if needed
