Position Summary The Manager, Sales – New Construction, Commercial and Residential is responsible for leading South Jersey Gas’s efforts to promote the installation of natural gas heating systems and appliances in both commercial and residential new construction markets across Southern New Jersey. This leadership role serves as the primary liaison between SJG and developers, builders, and trade partners—supporting project planning, providing technical guidance, and ensuring a seamless customer experience from design through installation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Proactively lead efforts to grow natural gas installations in both residential and commercial new construction markets Build and maintain strong relationships with builders, developers, architects, engineers, and construction managers to promote natural gas usage Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders throughout the construction cycle, ensuring clear communication of utility requirements and timelines Coordinate internal teams across departments—Design, Engineering, Permitting, Construction, Utility and Street (Asset)—to align on project needs and deliver excellent customer service Educate partners on the benefits of natural gas and available incentive programs Represent South Jersey Gas at builder associations, development councils, and industry forums including South Jersey Builders League and Associated Builders and Contractors – New Jersey Chapter (ABC-NJ) Attend industry events, seminars, and workshops as a speaker or participant to promote SJG and identify development opportunities Monitor development activity and zoning trends to anticipate and pursue future growth Support the integration of GIS and Salesforce to target new opportunities and manage accounts effectively Track progress against sales goals, support team development, and ensure compliance with company policies and safety standards Qualifications Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor’s degree in business, construction management, engineering, or a related field; or equivalent work experience 7 years of experience in new construction project management, real estate development, or a related field Minimum 5 years of experience in sales, business development, or client relations In addition, a minimum of 1 year of leadership experience. Or a Master’s degree with 4 years of relevant experience. Preferred Background: Experience with commercial and residential construction processes, utility installations, and HVAC systems strongly preferred Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce); experience with GIS a plus Required Skills: Proven ability to build strong professional relationships and influence decision-makers Skilled in interpreting contracts, construction drawings, and project specifications Excellent communication, organizational, and presentation skills Strong customer focus with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to manage multiple priorities Willingness to travel across SJI’s service territory Explore the Possibilities South Jersey Industries employs a diverse range of talent – from construction contractors to environmental specialists.
