Reports to: Superintendent
Educational Requirements:
- Associate Degree in Culinary Arts/Food Service Management or similar field & experience in the Food Service Industry with a thorough knowledge of managing finances and supervising staff.
- Registered Dietician Nutritionist or certification with the School Nutrition Association preferred.
Your Purpose:
To supervise the District’s food service program and ensure that nutritious, high-quality food is available to each student and that the food is prepared, served, and consumed in a clean, safe, and positive environment.

- Remaining in a stationary position for extended periods of time while using a computer or fulfilling other management duties
Responsibilities:
- Planning menus, coordinating and supervising the preparation and serving of food at all schools.
- Purchasing all supplies needed for food service.
- Planning disposition of government commodities as part of the ongoing food service program.
- Maintaining a current inventory of both food and non-food items.
- Supervising the planning & preparation of any special meals required for District-sponsored events.
- Maintaining all records as requested by the Superintendent and/or as required by federal/state regulations.
- Ensuring compliance with established Healthy Kids Act regulations.
- Submitting federal reimbursement requests in an accurate and timely manner.
- Making applications for federal subsidies (CNP-1).
- Interpreting federal/state standards & guidelines regarding school food service program to the administration, the staff and the public, as appropriate.
- Visiting all kitchens as often as possible to ensure that high standards of diet, cleanliness, health and safety are maintained.
- Arranging for audits or inspections of the food service facilities.
- Interviewing and screening all food service candidates & evaluating all food service employees.
- Reviewing all food service payroll/time cards and reporting to the Finance Director.
- Reviewing bills and purchase orders for accuracy before submitting them to the Finance Director for payment.
- Reviewing and evaluating all requests/recommendations for purchase of new and replacement equipment.
- Working with the administration to prepare specifications and bid conditions for all items requiring such bids by law or board policy.
- Maintaining your own level of expertise through participation in continuing education programs.
- Assuming other duties and responsibilities, as assigned by the Superintendent.
Terms of Employment:
- Yearly contract, as negotiated with the School Board
