What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Nurses position at South Hadley Public Schools?
Location: District wide at all schools, grades: Pre K-12
Responsibilities:
*Provide nursing care for student illnesses, chronic conditions, and any acute injuries.
*Administer medications and treatments/procedures as ordered.
*Administer nursing care based on individual health care plans.
*Assist in conducting state mandated programs such as immunization surveillance and health screenings.
*Identify abnormal health findings and initiate referral to parents, school personnel, and/or community health resources for follow up.
*Document all student health encounters and nursing interventions in the Electronic Health Record (SNAP).
*Maintain confidentiality of all student records in accordance with FERPA/HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications:
*Massachusetts RN license
*Current CPR certification
*Knowledge of current practices for common childhood illnesses and chronic diseases: asthma management, diabetes, insulin pen and pumps, seizure management
*Ability to perform skilled nursing care such as catheterization, suctioning, gastrostomy feeding tubes, insulin administration, insulin pump skills, and nebulizer treatments.
