JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Vocational Director
About: The Vocational Director provides leadership, supervision, and coordination of the district’s vocational and technical education programs. The Director is responsible for ensuring high quality instructional programming, compliance with state and federal regulations, student achievement, industry alignment, and partnerships with businesses and community organizations.
Supervision: Reports to Superintendent
Training and Job Requirements:
1.Bachelor's Degree required - Master preferred.
2.Must have DESE licensure or be eligible for licensure.
3.Minimum of 5 years’ experience in vocational, technical or educational leadership.
4.Experience in supervision and evaluation of staff preferred.
5.Knowledge of vocational education regulations, curriculum development, and workforce trends.
6.Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
7.Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with staff, students, families, and community partners.
Performance Responsibilities:
1.Provide leadership and oversight for all vocational and technical education programs.
2.Supervise, support and evaluate vocational faculty and staff.
3.Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and district regulations related to career and technical education.
4.Coordinate co-operative experiences for students involved in CTE programs
5.Seek and complete grants and Chapter 74 applications through DESE.
6.Coordinate curriculum development and program improvement aligned with industry standards and workforce needs.
7.Collaborate with school administrators, guidance counselors, teachers, families, and community partners to support student success.
8.Develop and maintain partnerships with local businesses, colleges, and workforce organizations.
9.Oversee vocational program budgets, grants, equipment, and resource allocation.
10.Monitor student enrollment, attendance achievement, certifications, internships, and placement data.
11.Coordinate cooperative education, internships, apprenticeships, and work-based learning opportunities.
12.Support the implementation of safety procedures and ensure compliance within vocational program areas.
13.Participate in the hiring, onboarding, and professional development of vocational staff.
14.Assist in the development of schedules, student recruitment, and program promotion activities.
15.Attend School Committee meetings and provide reports as requested.
16.Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Terms of Employment: As agreed upon through an individual contract.
Evaluation: Performance of the job will be evaluated on a yearly basis by the Superintendent or their designee.
Physical Requirements: The position requires a moderate amount of walking, standing, sitting and
climbing stairs and stepping stools. Activities also include moderate
physical exertion in body movement, such as reaching, bending, twisting,
grasping, pushing, and pulling objects. The position requires lifting
objects of 20 pounds on a frequent basis and over 20 pounds infrequently.
There are frequent requirements of fine motor manipulation associated
with the required use of computer, keyboard, calculator, and other
business machines.
Environmental Conditions: The employee is required to work indoors. The regular chemical solvents
are toners and cleaning fluids.

Salary : $80,000 - $90,000
