Volunteer Band Assistant
Reports to: Band Director and Principal
Job Summary: Assists the band director in providing musical and/or auxiliary instruction for students and prepares them for performances. Supervises students at performances and rehearsals, and on trips.
Terms of Employment: Seasonal volunteer position
Duties, Skills, Abilities, and Responsibilities:
- Assists in preparing the band/auxiliary groups for appropriate public performances in keeping with the expectations of the director, school principal, and district administration.
- Supervises students at all performances and rehearsals, and on trips.
- Required to have prompt, regular attendance in person.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group.
- Excellent problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage students individually and as a group.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma preferred.
- Experience working with youth.
- Experience with music, dance, or related instruction preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to occasionally lift/carry up to 20 pounds.
- Must be able to occasionally push/pull up to 20 pounds.
- Must be able to occasionally perform the following: stooping, fine manipulation, grasping, bending, handling, and reaching.
