Volunteer Band Assistant 

Reports to: Band Director and Principal

Job Summary:  Assists the band director in providing musical and/or auxiliary instruction for students and prepares them for performances. Supervises students at performances and rehearsals, and on trips.

Terms of Employment: Seasonal volunteer position

Duties, Skills, Abilities, and Responsibilities: 

• Assists in preparing the band/auxiliary groups for appropriate public performances in keeping with the expectations of the director, school principal, and district administration.
• Supervises students at all performances and rehearsals, and on trips.
• Required to have prompt, regular attendance in person.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group.
• Excellent problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage students individually and as a group.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma preferred.
• Experience working with youth.
• Experience with music, dance, or related instruction preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to occasionally lift/carry up to 20 pounds.
• Must be able to occasionally push/pull up to 20 pounds.
• Must be able to occasionally perform the following: stooping, fine manipulation, grasping, bending, handling, and reaching.
