JOB LOCATION : Main Campus
DEPARTMENT: SURGICAL SERVICES ADMIN
SCHEDULE: Full Time, 8 HR Day Shift, 0800-1630
POSITION SUMMARY Maintains computerized scheduling/posting of surgical cases, by CPT-4 coding, utilizing independent computer based system and integrated hospital wide system. Assists Surgical management team in computerized information retrieval of monthly/quarterly statistical information. Create computerized forms including modifications/revisions as required by OR management team. Process patient charges through hospital wide computer system. Maintains historical data from patient OR records and Anesthesia records on file for one year. Enters data into the OR computer system. Able to research and recall billing and patient information as requested by OR management, Business Office staff and physicians.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Education/Certification. High school diploma or GED preferred. Completion of course of study for medical terminology. Completion of course of instruction in multi-user networking and data base management is preferred. Six months to 1 year related OR experience is strongly preferred. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other organization personnel. Ability to add and subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Flexible in work schedule, assignments, and work load. Ability to understand and follow the policies and procedures of South Georgia Medical Center and regulatory agencies’ standards and rules.
