DEPARTMENT:NURSING CLINICAL RESOURCES
SCHEDULE:Full Time, 8 HR Day Shift,
POSITION SUMMARY
Designs, organizes, implements, and evaluates educational programs (orientations, continuing education, and in-services) that facilitate the professional growth, skill development, competency, and attainment of standards of care for employees.
These programs will be developed, implemented, and evaluated using adult education principles.
Clinical programs will be developed using nursing theory, nursing clinical expertise, standards of practice, and adult education principles.
Serves as resource for staff nurses and other healthcare team members working in assigned service areas.
Assists with promoting competency level of staff in assigned service areas by providing service specific education.
Assists with providing individual instruction to staff as needed in assigned service areas.
Assists in providing education related to new/revised policies or procedures.
Assists in evaluating effectiveness of current standards, polices, procedures, and clinical pathways, and ensures all regulatory/accrediting standards requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education, licensure, and certification: Current RN license in the State of Georgia.
Bachelor’s degree in nursing with a minimum of 3 years experience in area of specialty required.
ACLS, PALS, NRP, or STABLE certifications (or ability to obtain) as appropriate to assigned units.
Must have knowledge of adult learning principles, and should have teaching experience, preferably in an adult education and in the healthcare setting.
Flexible in work schedule, assignments and workloads.
Ability to prioritize and utilize problem-solving techniques.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to assess learning needs of healthcare personnel.
Ability to conduct educational programs for a wide range of healthcare personnel.
Ability to plan educational programs based on objectives and evaluate effectiveness
WORKING CONDITIONS - ADA INFORMATION
Works primarily in hospital setting, in clinical/patient care areas on various shifts and weekends with the flexibility required to meet the educational needs of staff. Considerable walking, standing, stooping, bending, lifting occasionally in excess of fifty pounds. Ability to assess, plan, and make recommended decisions in complex environment.

The Staff Nurse RN is responsible as a member of the Hospice Interdisciplinary Team for the provision/supervision of skilled nursing care in order to maximize the comfort and health of hospice patients and their families. The Staff Nurse RN is expected to help in areas of need, home care or hospice facility, within any division/department of HOSG as directed by the nurse manager. Provides support to the primary nursing staff by assisting with scheduled and/or PRN visits in the patient care setting, or may be assigned to assist with referrals, admissions, and/or call coverage. May be required to work variable shifts in the inpatient setting as staffing or census needs dictate. Responsible for the assessment of patient/family needs and for working collaboratively with other Interdisciplinary Team Members to ensure that appropriate supportive care and symptom management services are provided in accordance with the attending physician’s orders and the Plan of Care. Participates in the development, maintenance and supervision of the plan of care for provision of certified nursing assistant services to patients.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Required current licensure as a professional Registered Nurse in the state of Georgia, with BSN or higher professional nursing degree preferred. One (1) year experience in related specialty area preferred Demonstrated understanding of and adherence to the hospice philosophy and ability to work as member of interdisciplinary team in meeting the unique needs of the terminally ill. Certification in hospice/palliative care strongly preferred. Must possess strong clinical skills in assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of patient care. Must have positive attitude with demonstrated ability to handle delicate situations and to communicate effectively with members of the hospice team, physicians and other referral sources, patients/families, and community agencies/institutions. Must possess ability to work non-judgmentally with persons of diverse cultural, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds and lifestyles. Must be self motivated with strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, handle pressure, and utilize critical thinking/problem-solving techniques Demonstrated ability to respond well to supervision and work independently with minimal direction and appropriate collaboration when required. Ability to operate clinical equipment as well as office equipment such as computers, telecommunications devices, etc. Must have current Georgia driver’s license with satisfactory driving record and the availability of a reliable, licensed and insured vehicle for use on the job. Must have current CPR certification
