JOB LOCATION : Smith Northview Campus
DEPARTMENT: OUTPATIENT THERAPY SERVICES
SCHEDULE: Full Time, 8 HR Day Shift,
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) provides specialized care including both evaluations and treatments of the hand, wrist and upper extremity. The position works primarily with diagnoses such as, but not limited to, post-operative orthopedic, trauma, burn or chronic system disorders which may impair the underlying function of the hand, wrist, elbow or shoulder. This role participates with inpatient/outpatient care as required by patient diagnosis and/or coverage needs. This role is open to an eligible Occupational Therapist or Physical Therapist.
EDUCATION
- Active Georgia License as a Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist
- Active Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) certification
- CPR certification
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in hand and upper extremity rehabilitation is preferred.
- Proficiency in fabricating custom orthotics and splints to include static and dynamic.
- Strong knowledge of current therapeutic techniques and modalities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Membership in professional organizations such as the American Society of Hand Therapists (ASHT) preferred.
- Completion of advanced coursework in hand and upper extremity rehabilitation preferred.
- Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics related to the hand and upper extremity.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
Works primarily in outpatient or hospital setting. Requires considerable standing, mental effort, walking, bending, stooping, lifting, in excess of fifty (50) pounds, pushing objects (wheelchairs, and beds). Comfortable setting indoors, schedules may include working weekends and holidays. May be subjected to high levels of stress. Likely to be exposed to blood and body fluids, including infectious diseases, on a daily basis. Uses medical equipment, computer, telecommunication devices and patient information systems.
