Job Description
TITLE: Bus Aide
- Bus 88 AM Aide at 8 am for 1.5 hours
REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation
JOB GOAL:
- To assist in providing safe transportation so that all students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from being transported to and from school in a safe, caring environment
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED)
- Experience working with children
- Ability to work cooperatively with others
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor and document the behaviors of a specified student as trained by the special education staff and as per a written “behavior bus plan.”
- Work collaboratively with the school personnel to assure that the child’s Individualized Education Plan goals are addressed. Communication with these individuals should be maintained as needed and requested.
- Redirect the child when the student fails to follow rules and procedures within the appropriate boundaries as instructed by the classroom teacher/elementary administration.
- Document and submit to the teacher via a bus discipline form any behaviors that violate the expected bus conduct and fail to be modified upon redirection.
- Submit all forms as instructed to the student’s classroom paraeducator who will forward them to the classroom teacher.
- Attend all meetings regarding the student, as requested.
- Complete and submit time sheets to the building principal.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Rate –$18.16 as per the negotiated contract for the probationary period of 45 working days; followed by the regular rate of $22.70 per hour after successful completion of the probationary period.
EVALUATION:
The Director of Transportation will provide an evaluation based on this job description.
