Job Overview:
The Proposal Writer is primarily responsible for overseeing all aspects of the bidding process including identification of new and retained bidding opportunities, management of bidding process, writing of bids/proposals and winning large contracts for mowing, vegetation, debris, storm clean up, fencing and asphalt sealing projects.

Principal Responsibilities and Duties:
- Compiles company project experience credentials documents, capability statements, references, certificates, etc. for bids.
- Engages with management to validate approach, design and pricing assumptions, budget preparation and work plans.
- Gathers proposal/document information by identifying sources of information; coordinating submissions and collections; identifying and communicating risks associated with proposals.
- Develops proposal/document by assembling information including project nature, objectives/outcomes/deliverables, implementation, methods, timetable, staffing, budget, standards of performance, and evaluation; writing, revising, and editing drafts including executive summaries, conclusions, and organization credentials.
- Prepares content for a range of proposals for small to medium sized projects through to large, complex multi-year, multi-county contracts.
- Meets proposal deadline by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, and approval; entering and monitoring tracking data; coordinating requirements with contributors; contributing proposal status information to review meetings; transmitting proposals.
- Handles timely submission of applications (digital and physical) in accordance with client stipulations, ensuring quality assurance processes are adhered to.
- Creates and fosters relationships with clients, partners and associates – obtains fee rates and information on their availability, keeps them informed of project status, obtains required documentation.
- Maintains current knowledge of market conditions and competitors and activities critical to the bidding process.
- Sets up and maintain all credentials and compliance documents for use in bids.
- Sets up and maintain a database of partners and suppliers.
- Develops a repository of templated responses for written bids/proposals and budget calculations.
- Maintains quality results by using templates; following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone; maintaining proposal support databases.

REQUIRED:
- Proven success with bid/proposal writing.
- Experience compiling large comprehensive proposals and responding to multiple RFPs, simultaneously.
- Ability to learn quickly, conduct research, assimilate information and turn thoughts into written word.
- Collaborate well with others to meet objectives and are open to suggestions that allow you to produce superior work.
- Excellent time management abilities; able to prioritize time and resources efficiently, and prepare for and welcome the unexpected. Works well under pressure and with tight deadlines.
- Ability to interpret and analyze complex information from a range of sources and present in a succinct and compelling way.
- Very strong writing skills to be able to construct high quality, complex narratives and convey complex ideas simply and clearly.
- Strong numeracy skills and moderate-advanced level of competence using Excel spreadsheets and formulas for financial information.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical information such as blueprints/plan sets and legal documents (contracts).
- Ability to work with minimal supervision as well as collaborating with a team, meet scheduled timelines, and plan and organize work accordingly.
