Position Summary:
The Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach at the University of South Dakota is responsible for the design and implementation of strength and conditioning programs for assigned athletic teams, as delegated by the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach. This position requires the ability to effectively instruct, supervise, and demonstrate exercises within a weightlifting-based training environment.
The Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach at the University of South Dakota is responsible for the design and implementation of strength and conditioning programs for assigned athletic teams, as delegated by the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach. This position requires the ability to effectively instruct, supervise, and demonstrate exercises within a weightlifting-based training environment.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach and Athletic Trainers to coordinate biomechanical assessments and implement return-to-play protocols for injured student-athletes. Additional duties may be assigned by the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach as needed.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field
- Certification from either the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) or the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa)
- Current CPR and AED certifications
- Minimum of 1 academic year (full- or part-time) of experience in a NCAA member strength & conditioning program, working with both male and female athletes
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in a related field
- Experience as a collegiate athlete
- USA Weightlifting (USAW) certification
- Experience training Basketball and/or Volleyball at the collegiate level
