Join our team as a Professional Academic Advisor and help students achieve success as they transition from high school to college. The Wintrode Student Success and Opportunity Center at South Dakota State University is seeking a dynamic, self-guided individual to serve as a Professional Academic Advisor in the First Year Advising Center. This position is located in Brookings, South Dakota. This position is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and coordinate activities to enhance academic success, learning, and development of SDSU students, ultimately impacting student retention and degree attainment.

QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Earned Master’s degree completed by start date;
- Minimum of one year academic advising or related experience;
- Experience working with a variety of undergraduate college students in a student-centered environment;
- Effective written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- An earned Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, or a related discipline;
- Knowledge of activities designed to enhance student success and retention;
- Knowledge of student development/learning theories;
- Experience applying proactive and appreciative advising strategies.
