Job Qualifications
General Requirements:
Our ideal candidate should have:
- NYS UPK-6 or 7-12 Certification in any subject area (i.e. Reading, Special Education, ELA).
- Experience with RTI/MTSS systems and using data driven instruction.
- Effective communication skills to engage students, parents, colleagues, administration and the school community as a whole.
- Collaborative, flexible and innovative with intervention strategies related to literacy and varied forms of written and spoken communication.
- An understanding of best instructional practices when providing targeted, small group instruction at the middle school level.
- Working knowledge of the writing process and how to provide instruction to students in the implementation of the writing process.
- An understanding of the written and reading comprehension tasks associated with the state assessments at grades 5-8 and a framework for providing students with direct instruction in how to successfully meet the demands outlined in these assessments.
- Experience teaching all genres and an understanding of how to provide students with the skills necessary to analyze, think critically and write in response to both fiction and nonfiction texts.
- An understanding of how to teach reading comprehension writing in response to what you have read to students at the middle school level.
Salary and Benefits:
According to the SCTA Contract - at least Schedule 1, Step 1 or $57,677.00 depending on experience and transcripts. Competitive benefits.
