Medical Assisting - Faculty Description
South College is seeking qualified applicants for the role of Full-Time Faculty - Medical Assisting. The faculty member will teach Medical Assisting courses as assigned. The successful applicant will need to be able to teach on campus in Asheville, NC.
Responsibilities
- Provide engaging and effective instruction for courses in the Medical Assisting program (Certificate and associate degree levels).
- Prepare course materials, lesson plans, and assessments in alignment with program objectives and institutional standards.
- Participate in lab activates as assigned
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
- Support student learning through timely feedback, academic guidance, and professional mentorship.
- Participate in committees at the department and college levels
- Participate in ongoing accreditation activities
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in related field required
- Completion of medical assisting certificate or associate degree program
- Current certification in medical assisting (CMA)
- Current certification in phlebotomy (CPT) preferred
Experience
- Minimum of two years of clinical experience as a medical assistant
- Experience in post-secondary education preferred
- Experience with online instruction preferred
