What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher of the Visually Impaired and/or Orientation and Mobility Specialist (South Coast Ed Collab) position at South Coast Educational Collaborative?
•Complete student evaluations/screenings/standardized testing in accordance with Collaborative guidelines
•Provide direct instruction/consultation to students and assist with classroom implementation
•Provide support to students in inclusionary experiences within a public school setting
•Complete daily service documentation
•Gather, compile, and disaggregate data; and link that data to student learning and inform instruction.
•Differentiate instruction based on assessment data
•Write professional reports, develop Individual Education Programs (IEP), maintain data collection employing research-based best practice strategies to demonstrate student progress and adjust student goals
•Document interventions and progress on each student
•Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned
•Present subject matter according to the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks using Deeper Learning pedagogy
•Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods
•Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process
•Be a positive role model for students and support the mission of the Collaborative
•Manage student behavior
•Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
•Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials for the visually impaired
•Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents/guardians, outside agencies and community members
•Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly
•Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills
•Keep informed of and comply with state and Collaborative regulations and policies for educators
•Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required
•Request support when necessary
•Other student-related assigned responsibilities as needed
