What are the responsibilities and job description for the Music Teacher (12 Months - Full Time) position at South Coast Educational Collaborative?
This position provides an opportunity for a dynamic music educator with a diverse skill set to provide general music instruction.Provide general music instruction.Teaches knowledge and skills in the field of music, which may include general and instrumental music to secondary students utilizing the course of study prescribed by the Collaborative.Provides instruction by which students develop aesthetic concepts and appreciations and the ability to make qualitative judgments about music.Develops instructional plans and organizes class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and working time.Provides individual and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of pupils with varying intellectual and artistic abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities.Provide leadership and manage a classroom team of paraprofessionals and therapists.Ability to work as a productive member of the instructional team to maximize student outcomes.Development of the knowledge and skills to design and implement. Deeper Learning pedagogical practices.Develop and implement an instructional program in transition and life skills for high school age students with special needs.Develop and implement an effective schedule for all program and student music needs across the Collaborative.Write reports, develop IEPs, maintain data collection employing research-based best practice strategies to demonstrate student progress and adjust student goals.Responsible for working with students in the community in a variety of transition related domains (employment, post-secondary education, recreation, daily living skills, etc.) and during these activities collect ongoing transitional data.Work with expert consultants to develop effective support systems for students.Develop positive relationships with families.Other duties as required.EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS: Participation in mentoring/ training sessions across Collaborative programsOpportunities for job mobility: on-going career counseling; training opportunities; degree/ licensure programs; other professional development opportunities.Certification in CPR/First Aid within 30 days of hire and commitment to keep certification current.Certification in CPI within 30 days of hire and commitment to keep certification current.
