Position Summary

The Development Coordinator plays a critical support role in advancing the Garden’s fundraising initiatives, including institutional giving, sponsorships, major gifts, and membership programs.

This is a highly collaborative, non-exempt role responsible for coordinating donor engagement efforts, supporting events, maintaining data integrity, and providing administrative and project support to the Development team. The position requires a detail-oriented, proactive professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can manage multiple priorities with accuracy and professionalism.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, adaptable, and eager to grow within nonprofit development while contributing to continuous process improvement and exceptional donor stewardship.


Key Responsibilities

Fundraising & Donor Support

  • Coordinate donor recognition efforts, including donor walls, plaques, and capital project acknowledgments
  • Support corporate sponsorship fulfillment and donor stewardship activities
  • Assist in developing fundraising communications (emails, proposals, donor correspondence, presentations)
  • Conduct prospect research and develop donor/prospect profiles
  • Support annual fund and membership initiatives in partnership with leadership

Events & Engagement

  • Coordinate logistics for development events, including invitations, guest lists, RSVPs, and vendor coordination
  • Provide on-site support for events, including evenings and weekends as needed
  • Assist in planning donor cultivation and stewardship events (e.g., Banyan Legacy Society)

Data & Systems Management

  • Maintain accurate and timely data in CRM system (Blackbaud Altru), including:
    • Contact reports
    • Constituent records
    • Biographical and engagement data
  • Identify and track prospective donors through membership and fundraising pipelines
  • Support portfolio tracking and donor lifecycle management
  • Serve as a key user of project management tools (e.g., Monday.com) to improve team efficiency

Administrative & Operational Support

  • Coordinate scheduling, meetings, and calendars for Development leadership
  • Assist with internal reporting, briefing materials, and donor bios
  • Support general administrative functions within the Development Department
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve systems

General Expectations

  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
  • Provide excellent customer service to donors, members, and guests
  • Collaborate effectively across departments
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

Required

  • 1 year of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising support, or related field
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
  • Ability to learn CRM and project management systems

Preferred

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience with donor databases (e.g., Blackbaud Altru)
  • Familiarity with fundraising concepts such as Moves Management

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Full-time, non-exempt position working Monday–Friday, in-office
  • Must be available for occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays for events
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods during events
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting pay: $22.00 per hour
