SUMMARY OF POSITION

Conducts developmental screenings for children birth to age 3 per the Department of Developmental Services funding requirements. Conducts outreach to raise awareness of SCLARC services and eligibility criteria. Is co-located at partner sites such as clinics and hospitals. Provides community partners with ongoing support with ES referrals. Provides parents with resources and referrals related to their child’s needs. Provide parents with continued support through referral processes. Tracks data required by the grant.

Disclaimer: This position is specifically for the Early Start Community Connector Grant that is expected to continue until May 2028.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Conducts screenings for children using the Ages and Stages Questionnaire.

Co-located at partner agency site locations. 

Reviews ASQ results with families and submits appropriate referrals as needed.

Tracks referrals submitted to SCLARC’s Early Start Intake Department. 

Tracks referrals submitted to other community resources. 

Calls parents for follow up to ensure their connection with needed intervention services. 

Provide community presentations on typical child development and recognizing red flags for autism and developmental delays. 

Conducts outreach in the community.

Attends all unit, division, supervision, staff and in-service training meetings as required.

Assists with all data collection requirements pertaining to the grant. 

Other duties as assigned by the Chief Advancement Officer.

Weekends and evening work may be assigned on an as needed basis.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in child development, psychology, social work, or a related field, or AA in child development, Early Child Education, combined with relevant experience in the field. Previous experience in administration of early childhood screening tool desired. Prefer candidates with experience in providing parents and caregivers with referrals to community support services as well as in coordinating with community agencies serving families caring for children birth to five.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively in front of large groups. Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to complete reports and analyze graphs, charts and tables.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Demonstrates cultural sensitivity and awareness to diverse groups. Must be able to handle confidential information and adhere to funding requirements. Must have good time management skills and be PC literate.

California Drivers License required.
