What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Welder position at South Central Equipment?
South Central Equipment is looking for a talented welder to join our team for both in-field and in-shop needs. Our ideal new hire will be a hard worker who likes meeting challenges, has common sense and is very reliable. Applicants must have a valid driver's license to be able to work both inside the shop and out in the field on general construction and pile driving projects.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and measurements to plan layouts.
- Weld small and large components such as copper plumbing, beams, and pipe.
- Use specialized machinery for industrial welding and oversee equipment.
- Maintain and repair all machinery.
- Assess welded surfaces, structures and components to identify errors.
- Follow and enforce safety regulations, such as wearing heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, and safety shoes.
- Monitor machinery for appropriate usage and temperature.
- Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 3 years experience in a welding or fabrication-related role.
- A valid certificate in welding from an accredited institution is preferred, particularly a 6G welding certificate.
- Excellent knowledge of welding machinery, electrical equipment, and manual tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and designs.
Compensation: $25-35/hour, based on experience and determined on hire.
